About Mr. Marcus Young:

“Baptized” in music before he was born, Mr. Young experienced the sound of music at an early age.  He was raised in an environment surrounded by music under the influence of his father, Steven Young, a music teacher and an accomplished musician. It’s no surprise that Marcus is a master at playing multiple instruments. Marcus is playing out what he was born to do – deliver pure soulful melodic and inspirational songs infused with jazz rhythms.  That’s not to say this young singer, songwriter, composer and musician from Fort Washington, MD, follows any kind of formula. “Groove Jazz” so he says.

Talented is an understatement!  He is a one-man show!  He stands at the threshold of becoming a musical icon. We experienced his invasion in the music industry with the release of his debut CD, “Sit Back, Relax, and Listen to the Music” in 2006 and second release, “Moments In Time.”  Two projects will be released this year.

Marcus (known on stage as Mr. MarcusYoung.com), has been blessed to share his God-given talent with both national and international audiences.  For three years, he played for the legendary Chuck Brown, and he continues to perform with the All Star legendary Chuck Brown tribute band.  Marcus has also shared the stage with George Clinton, Raheem DeVaughn, Ledisi, Doug E. Fresh, Mike Epps, Kindred The Family Soul, Y’Anna Crawley, Marcus Canty, Eric Roberson, and Dave Hollister.  He has performed at the Tom Joyner Cruise show; the Merriweather Post Pavilion; the Lake Arbor Jazz Fest; the Washington Redskins’ Half Time Show; and at the St. Lucia Jazz Fest.

He has expanded his musical horizons to all the major cities through out the United States. With the Armed Forces Entertainment, he has toured Dubai, Qatar, Bahrain, Djibouti, and United Arab Emirates.

Marcus says, “Music is a universal language. I want my music to have a mass appeal – overcoming age, language and religious barriers.”

A member of the Grammy’s, he is also an active leader in the Music Ministry at Mt. Ennon Baptist Church in Clinton, MD.  Marcus arranges, composes and produces as he continues to make his musical mark.
